Cream Cheese and Bacon Stuffed Doritos

A unique and indulgent appetizer that combines the crunch of Doritos with a creamy, cheesy, and smoky bacon filling. Perfect for parties, game nights, or a snack with a twist.

Ingredients

For the Filling:

  • 1 (8 oz) package of cream cheese, softened
  • 1 cup shredded cheddar cheese
  • 6-8 slices of cooked bacon, crumbled
  • 2 green onions, finely chopped
  • 1/2 teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • Pinch of salt (optional)

For Assembly and Coating:

  • 1 large bag of Doritos (any flavor, but Nacho Cheese or Cool Ranch work best)
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 large eggs, beaten
  • 1 cup plain or seasoned breadcrumbs (panko recommended)
  • Oil for frying (vegetable or canola)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Filling:
    • In a mixing bowl, combine cream cheese, shredded cheddar cheese, crumbled bacon, green onions, garlic powder, paprika, black pepper, and salt. Mix until smooth and well-combined.
    • Scoop small amounts (about 1 teaspoon) of the mixture and shape them into small balls or logs. Place them on a parchment-lined tray and freeze for 15-20 minutes until firm.
  2. Prepare the Coating Station:
    • Place the flour in one shallow dish, the beaten eggs in a second dish, and the breadcrumbs in a third dish.
  3. Assemble the Doritos:
    • Carefully open a Dorito slightly along one edge (be gentle to avoid breaking the chips). Insert a frozen ball of filling inside the chip and gently press it closed.
  4. Coat the Doritos:
    • Dip the stuffed Dorito into the flour, ensuring it is lightly coated. Then dip it into the beaten egg, and finally coat it in the breadcrumbs. Repeat for all stuffed chips.
  5. Fry the Stuffed Doritos:
    • Heat oil in a deep pan or fryer to 350°F (175°C). Carefully fry the coated Doritos in batches until golden brown, about 1-2 minutes per side.
    • Remove with a slotted spoon and drain on paper towels.
  6. Serve:
    • Serve warm with dipping sauces like ranch, salsa, or sour cream.
